Eligibility Criteria for Indian Army NCC Special Entry 2025

Nationality

A candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or

Educational Qualification

  • For NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders:

    • Should have served for a minimum of two/three years in the Senior Division/Wing of NCC.

  • For Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army Personnel:

    • NCC ‘C’ Certificate is NOT required for this category.

Age Limit

  • Candidates must be between 19 and 25 years of age as of January 1, 2026.

Physical and Medical Requirements

  3. If you are a new user, click on ‘Registration’. If already registered, log in with your credentials.
  4. After logging in, your dashboard will appear. Click on ‘Apply Online’.

🧠 Selection Process:

The selection process for the NCC Special Entry is unique as it does not involve a written examination. The focus is entirely on assessing the personality, leadership qualities, and psychological fitness of the candidate.

Stage 1: Shortlisting of Applications

  • The first step is the shortlisting of online applications.
  • A merit list is prepared based on the bonus marks awarded for performance in the NCC ‘C’ Certificate and graduation marks.
    • NCC ‘C’ Certificate: ‘A’ Grade gets 50 marks, and ‘B’ Grade gets 25 marks.
    • Graduation Marks: Marks are awarded on a scale, with 85% and above getting 50 marks, and scores between 60% and 64.99% getting 5 marks.
  • Candidates are then called for the SSB interview based on the number of vacancies and a pre-decided ratio.

Stage 2: Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview

  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo a five-day SSB interview at one of the selection centers: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), or Jalandhar (Punjab).
  • The SSB process is divided into two stages:
    • Stage I (Screening): This includes the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and the Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP&DT). Candidates who clear Stage I proceed to the next stage.
    • Stage II (Testing): This is a comprehensive four-day process involving:
      • Psychological Tests: Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), and Self Description Test (SDT).
      • Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks: Group discussions, group planning exercises, progressive group tasks, half group tasks, individual obstacles, command tasks, and final group tasks.
      • Personal Interview: A one-on-one interview with a senior officer.
      • Conference: On the final day, all assessors confer to decide on the candidate’s recommendation.

Stage 3: Medical Examination

  • Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a detailed medical examination at a military hospital.

Stage 4: Final Merit List

Candidates who are medically fit and feature in the merit list will be issued joining letters for pre-commission training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

A final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the SSB interview.
